Our “Shop, Cook, Eat” Experience is designed to give you the chance to spend time exploring the local market place with your host purchasing the ingredients you need for your cooking class.
No trip to the Souk is complete without stopping at the Fruit and Vegetable market. Stock up on the fresh produce needed for this evenings meal. A quick visit to the spice store for your host to explain the traditional spices that are used and the opportunity to buy a supply for your own use. You’ll also get to visit one of the towns bakeries.
With your shopping baskets full you are one step further on your cooking in Petra journey.
Now it’s time to enter into the kitchen and start preparing your feast. Working alongside your local host preparing the ingredients you have purchased that day, you will share in stories and learnings. Feel the warmth and hospitality of cooking in Petra, partaking in an experience that will be forever etched in your memory. Watch how your host cooks with love and instinct, intuitively knowing how much is enough.
Try as you might your host won’t allow you to help clean up, so sit back and relax with the family while the meal is finishing cooking.
The final touches and garnishes will be made and watch how the meal is unveiled with pride. Time to sit down and enjoy the efforts of your labour. Your host and their family will become your friends and you will leave with a satisfied stomach and happy heart.
Included in your Eco Experience:
- A local English speaking host who will translate and assist for the day of your cooking in Petra experience
- A tour of the Souk buying the ingredients that will be needed for cooking the meal
- Cooking in Petra inside the kitchen of a local family.
- Consumption of the evening meal, including Jordanian tea, coffee and soft drink
- Drinking Water during (filtered drinking water will be provided)
- Organization/ booking fee.

- Other meals and drinks not mentioned above.
- Transfers to/from your hosts home, small groups may be able to join their host in their car, otherwise you will either need to use your own car or we can arrange transport just let us know when booking.
